I complained about the commentless posting of political campaign videos - are you going to allow that?

If anything, it would be nice if posts could be limited to only one YouTube video.

Here you go:
http://politicalforum.com/showthread.php?t=27610 The person is using your site to post raw campaign political video. I also previously complained about this with the post complaint button on the post - no response.

My status is obvious, so I am not going to make any disclaimers (and that is a disclaimer in and of itself, which I hate), but I don't see anything wrong with that thread. More than one youtube video is the equivalent of a long normal post. If you want to limit the number of youtube videos that a user can have in one post, you might as well limit the number of words per post in general. I really don't like that practice. There are other, better ways to figure out whether a post is worthwhile.

I visited and posted to the thread.
Basically, there's not a rule that explicitly prohibits it. There is one that is close, but it is in regards to advertising a product or service. This is different in that this case is a political ad, and this is a political site. However, this site is more importantly a political DEBATING site. Simply posting videos and leaving isn't exactly debating. The idea is for users to interact with other users to engage in political ideas and learn from that. If everyone simply posted their favorite videos with no comments, it would very closely resemble spam, or the YouTube home page. That would be a thread I'd avoid if I were a user here... oh wait... I AM a user here. There's no doubt in my mind that things are going to heat up here in the next year leading up to the elections in November. I think we're all capable of finding the views of the candidates on our own without them having a dedicated thread specifically for political ads. Let's step up to the plate and play ball or find a more effective way to campaign for the candidate of your choice.

On closer inspection of ProgressiveReason, I've found that he has created 3 posts, one is the thread OP with the 5 youtube videos. Another is a post in a different thread with the same 5 videos:
http://www.politicalforum.com/showth...230#post434230 The third is a post that was edited by a mod because it also had the same five videos. Obviously he is a spammer. I will send him a warning in a pm and wait for a reply. We should decide what to do from there.

That person posted the same thing 3 times. The 3rd time I saw it, I deleted the videos and gave the reason. IMO, 3 times = spam. What do y'all think?

The other day 'justabubba' told me that George Bush jerks-off horses, for example. Add to that the retarded 'Muslims are peaceful people' posts. And then there are the countless dopey 'Global Warming, Oh my God we're all gonna die!' threads. It's all Spam. |
