Reputation comments and points

I have a question who post these reputation comments and points?

All users can give reputation, except really new members or ones with bad reputation. By default you can't see which user gave you the comment, unless they chose to write their name in the comment.

Just out of question what is the ranking system to the side for and how many posts or days until you can give these points because I know many I would enjoy giving points to.

There's a system of ranking done strictly by number of posts you make. Think of them as levels. You start off as an Observer, move to Correspondent, Sr. Correspondent, Journalist, Analyst, Guru. (Those aren't necessarily in order or all of them... I'm just working from memory here.) The more posts you make, the more you move up in ranking/levels. The faster you post, the faster you move up. Once you reach the level of Guru, you continue to get higher post counts, but there are no more levels to achieve.

Reputation points are awarded or taken away by other members. If someone reads a particular post you've made and like what you said, they can give you reps and you get more green dots as an indication that your posts tend to meet with approval. These are done anonymously.

Reputation points are taken away by users who disapprove of what your posts might say. These negative rep points require the user to comment on why they don't like your post. Still, this is done anonymously.

Credits (as I understand it) are given to you through a series of factors such as: how long you've been here, your rep points, the amount of posts you've made, etc... So, I think it's more a cumulative aggregate number that represents a lot of things.

This is a fairly new system to us all, and I'm still learning all the bells and whistles that go with it. As mods, when we have to step in and correct someone, we take these ranks, credits, and reps into consideration. That's why newer members don't get as much leeway rules violations as users who have been here a while and has a proven track record.

Triple right click on the avatar of the person to whom you wish to add reputation points. You must click very fast, some sort of weird glitch in the system. It takes a few tries to get it right.

If you want to include a comment, you need to triple right click the avatar twice.

Click on the little scale icon at the top right of the post you want to give rep to.

So you go to your favorite forum/category and find a thread you might find interesting. You click on it and begin reading. Suddenly you read a post where you just love what is said... you want to give the writer/author a high five. Here's what you do...

At the top of their post is a blue border. On the left corner, it tells you when the post was made with a date and time stamp which is automatically generated by the board's software.

On the right hand side of the dark blue border, you'll find the number of that post as it is entered in the thread. (The Original post/thread starter is post #1, etc...)

Next, you'll see what looks like a set of scales. When you click on it, you'll get a small screen that let's you choose to give points (I approve) or take them away (I disagree) and there's a space where you can give comments anonymously. If you choose to GIVE points, you don't have to give comments unless you want to. If you take points away, you MUST give comments... but it's still anonymous to other users.
