Let's be honest. The rules aren't logical. It's not the mods, the rules make it difficult for them to judge it, gets left to personal opinion, which is a flawed system.

A system based on not making personal insults against other users. I have no idea why this is so hard to follow. Do you really think it is unreasonable?

Well, I think, if you say "that's an idiotic opinion" that's the same as saying "that's an idiotic person". Hence being BS.

Which rules are those? Be specific.

Most of the time I have to act as a Mod it's for the same few things. They are:

1. Name calling. You can disagree about the need for the rule, but it's not an illogical rule. Debate almost always goes downhill quickly when people resort to insults. Plus, it's intellectually lazy. Calling someone a dick, even if it's true, is not really adding much to the debate. And all it does is cause an equal response by the other person. There is simply no need for it. Yet some posters do it all the time. Most never do. To those people THANKS from the Moderators. Saves us time.
2. Flame Bait. Same reason as above. This is open to some interpretation, but I can tell you the Mods agree on what it is nearly all the time. And it's not illogical to have the rule. It's tough to have a good debate when you purposely post merely to inflame other members.
3. Spam. Also not illogical. Plus, it's become less of an issue on the new, upgraded board. It was the number one thing I dealt with.
4. Moving off topic posts to the right place. Not at all illogical.

Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see what the issue is. In Blade's case he kept calling people names, got called out on it, and then left in a huff. Sounds like a him problem to me.

Well, I think, if you say "that's an idiotic opinion" that's the same as saying "that's an idiotic person". Hence being BS.

Although I would suggest the best course of action would be to simply prove the opinion is idiotic, we don't tend to edit such comments. If someone says we need to bomb Canada and you respond that the idea is stupid, we don't edit it. But if you call them stupid we do.

I like the rules there lenient but they draw a clear line.

Who has been banned for saying that an opinion is idiotic? All the examples I have seen so far involve actual name calling.
