Society deems certain words unacceptable in conversations or in public, which sucks.

Profanity definitely should be allowed on television and radio. You should be allowed to say whatever you want and get nude and all of that stuff if you want IMO.

Lets all remember one thing here.

Freedom of speech does not apply on this board or any message board that has a TOS. You agreed to the TOS, and in the TOS it states. "By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws."

It is up to the Mods and the Admin on how strictly they enforce these rules.

You gave up your freedom of speech the second you clicked on the box. "The owners of Political Forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason."

Now that being said. I believe that profanity is protected by the First Amendment. But fighting words are not.

Then again...profanity, just for being profane, might not necessarily be "insulting" by nature, but it DOES show a blatant lack of maturity if done in excess.

In other words, the more you try to be profane, the more you end up just looking like an immature punk.

Profanity does not bother me. I was just explaining the nature of boards.

Hell I can curse for three minutes straight without saying the same word twice.

Additionally. It could be much worse.

I have worked with boards that had it set so if a trigger word was used, that post would not post and was sent straight to the mod quene.

Now it was somewhat necessary as there were something like four thousand posts per day and one moderator. All the while people would post recipes for high explosives, and many other destructive devises.

So simple things like explosive were deemed as trigger words, and this was a board for a show that dealt heavily with explosions.

The big problem was the software they used would look for a word within a word.

For example. Say you misspelled asinine as assinine. It would catch it. and any of the other trigger words that were spelled out in another word. As there was only one mod for 80k of members, many posts never got approved.

Please This board is mild by comparison.
