This is not a duplicate, and it can't be. I started this thread in response to things which have taken place in the last 48 hours. So a duplication would only be possible with a time machine. Also, your view that another poster is trolling just because they disagree with you, and you are unable to out-debate them is ridiculous!

I’d like to respond to a few of your posts that are floating around between various threads.

Specifically, I’d like to address your concerns regarding Foolosophy and his posts. In a post dated May 10th, you criticized us for not dealing with duplicate posts in this thread: -usa-number-one-alright

No not only did Foolosophy Not look for others.. he Created his own Duplicate strings.

And this is hardly a lone incident. Duplicate strings are rampant in every section that should be deleted- added to the end of others or moved to correct sections.

First of all, I’d like to urge you to use the “Report Post” button if you think we need to focus our attention on something. If you are not satisfied with how that works, PM one of us. In this thread, you chose to attack another user rather than report what you perceived to be a problem. Furthermore, you posted the exact same post in numerous threads as a c/p response to the user you took issue with: which I believe was the initial reason you were upset with the other user. Incidentally, it was the user you attacked reporting the post that compelled me to work on the thread, but you ended up getting infracted for the exact same thing plus insulting another user.

In this instance, it’s time for you to meet the kettle. I gave you an infraction for creating duplicate posts in numerous threads on May 8th regarding this exact thread. You’ll also have to concede that Foolosophy’s duplicate posts were also edited; and unbeknownst to you, he was infracted for the exact rule you simultaneously broke and are claiming we didn’t enforce in that thread. All this activity happened two days before you brought them up as unaddressed issues in this thread. Again, it would be my pleasure to post your infraction in this thread for the forum to see, with links to the thread in question as well as the dates that the mod staff did the work. In writing this post, I went back and read some of the threads in which you and Foolosophy get into it. Most other users contend that Foolosophy is not a troll, simply that he holds viewpoints you disagree with and that appear to infuriate you. His duplicate-post problem was addressed in the infraction I gave him.

I would like to also add that your opinion of what is or isn’t trolling, while valid, is only an opinion. We are not beholden to act on your opinion as if it were fact.

Second, you’ve always been incredibly gracious with me whenever we’ve corresponded. I appreciate that, but I would ask that you extend that courtesy to the rest of the people who volunteer their time to be here looking after the place. It is time-consuming and generally thankless, as you can see.

Good point. You could have countless "Bush is a moron" threads, for example. As long as they all refer to different things.

The reason a trolling post elicits a personal attack by way of reply is that the trolling post is a form of attack, itself. If a post says "republicans are stupid" or "Jews are conniving", for instance, then anybody who is a republican or who is Jewish has been attacked just as surely as if they were singled out personally. To reward the original poster by censoring the replies that rise to that same level of insult only acts to support the trolling post. Why not deal with the original attack instead of only the replies that attack back?

I'm reminded of the old school ground here where the bully would taunt and then sucker punch a kid andthe school marms would only show up to catch the retaliation. The difference here is that the original statements are right there in print, so the marms of this place should at least take into account what was said originally that elicited the response.

As stated, if you consider a post to be a troll, report it. But, don't try to justify acting like a toddler because you see words on a page that create an emotional response. We are all adults here, one would think that most of us would be above responding to a troll like a child at school.

What I am saying is that tha expectations for acting as an adult should extend to those acting as the provocauteur rather than just those who have been provoked. Why not evaluate consistantly and fairly by extending the same expectations to both as far as behavior is concerned? Why should "acting like a toddler" be less of a concern for you simply because the toddleresque verbage thus opined is included in the opening salvo of a post?


Not everybody reports posts, you know. If you leave the moderating to only those posts actually reported, you will miss quite a lot.
