I will agree with the Mods here, when something (1 time) was posted that was only to enrage I reported it and it was removed immediately. When I broke the rules (1 time) I was notified and I corrected it. I think the mods do a good job (I sure the 6 figures they are each pulling in helps) at keeping the forum moving forward.

Actually, if you said "I hate homosexuals", it would be allowed as long as something of substance followed. "I hate blacks" is allowed, too. I hate N-words is not. See how easy this is?

p.s. One thing I'll say about BB and a few other racists on this forum...they aren't whiney-assed cry babies. When I've reprimanded Billy Bob, he takes it like a man and comes back for more. He has a sense of humor. And, he doesn't take himself at all seriously. Some of y'all could learn a thing or two from him. I would say, in all seriousness, that Billy has earned his top reputation with his sense of humor. Even though I disagree with him about almost EVERYTHING, I like him.

What would you suggest that we say when this board for the most espouses the concept of a free exchange of IDEAS, even ideas which some might consider reprehensible?

I've been on political boards for about 7 years now (Stekim can vouch for this).

The best way to deal with racists is to allow them to spout their nonsense, in the light of day, out in the open, thus exposing them to ridicule for their silly and bizarre ideas. I have multiracial kids, and on other boards have been called things like "race traitor" and "untermenschen liebe" (subhuman lover). I let it slide off my skin like water off a duck's back.

Words only have power if we allow them to.

That whole "saying nothing is condoning" argument is frankly a load of crap. Allowing free speech in no way condones what the person is saying. The government is not condoning everything everyone in a country says. And neither are we.
