There are ways to point out hypocrisy without personally insulting another poster.

You can say, "That post smacks of hypocrisy." Won't be edited.

Generally, when an insult is allowed to stand it's because we didn't see it. At certain times there may only be one or two Mods "on duty", so checkin every post for rules violations is not possible. Use the report button and we'll see it far quicker.

The word liberal in this usage is to be deliberately offensive, especially to win an argument or to induce rejection or condemnation (as of a person or project) without objective consideration of the facts.

Good point. In those instances where the word liberal is used as a pejorative, by all rights it should be banned. If a person who objects to the racism of others cannot call that person a racist, then those who routinely use the word liberal to describe something despicable should not be allowed to call others a liberal.

What is offensive, though, is the way those who dish it out left and right are the first to cry foul when they get a little of it in return. Suddenly "the rules" come into play once they have fired off the first shot.
