Suggestion: inform other members of why banned people get banned

sharing the reasons why someone get banned has two benefits:

1- everyone could know why they're banned, so can avoid doing the same thing and getting banned.

2- all the banning events can be told in one thread, and therefore are managed better. and anyone can check that one thread to know why people are banned and who is banned recently.

billybob and sadistic savior got banned, two gurus. that's a good start point for opening such thread.

Billybob was banned for a few days. I don't know why.

Sadistic-Savior has not been banned. It was a different member who was impersonating SS who was banned a few months ago.

Billybob was banned for several instances of inappropriate language, personal attacks, and leaving a profane reputation comment - all in one night.

While I don't mind telling y'all why someone got banned, no one is going to accidentally or unknowingly break the wrong rule and get banned. People are banned because they know exactly what they are doing and they do it anyway.

I wish people would realize that weekends are not 'anything goes'. Moderating may be delayed, but it will be done. You're not going to get away with something just because the mods are busy.

Let me just back up 12th here. We NEVER ban on a first offense. We don't even ban on a 2nd offense. I have occasionally banned on a 3rd offense, but only if it was flagrant, and only a temporary ban. When a longterm member gets banned here, it is because he or she flagrantly violated the rules--repeatedly--after being warned--repeatedly.

I've seen a lot of that lately directed towards other users, and you will get banned for it. This is not a frigging elementary school. We expect users here to act like adults. You will not be allowed to harass other members privately (PMs or Reps). We will research it, and if it is a recurrent behavior, you will lose your forum posting permission.

I'm speaking specifically to a couple of you who are attacking members because you can't seem to handle them in public, on the forum. Harassment is harassment, whether it occurs in plain sight for everyone, or if you chose the coward's way of attacking someone behind the scenes.

It REALLY pisses me off, the cowardly way that a couple of people have behaved on here to other members. I don't have favorites on here, and I do not like the idea that we might lose members because a few of you are spineless bullies.

To echo the comments above, people get banned for one reason: Breaking forum rules. Simple as that. And aside from spammers, which are rare now, no one gets banned without repeated warnings. There are fewer Mods on the weekends, but rest assured we will get to it eventually. And the odds of getting banned go WAY up if we think you are taking advantage of the fact there are fewer Mods around to violate the TOS. There will be no warnings in that case.

As the election gets closer things get more heated. So just watch yourself a bit more. This isn't 3rd grade.
