Title under name?
What does the title under the username mean and when does it change? (observer, analyst, contributor, etc.)

It's the names of different levels
As you post, you move through different levels. Each time you submit a post you accumulate points that count towards moving you up. I'm no longer sure how many levels there are, or how many posts it takes to move to each level. You'll see various users who have achieved a level of Sr. Correspondent, Analyst, Contributor, etc...
The highest level is Guru. If you stay Guru for four consecutive years, you become a Republican.
