I have a question. This isn't my strong suit, so I need some opinions. What do these terms mean to you? Are they insults?

What I'm really interested to know is whether or not calling someone a jihadist is an insult if they are open about it. Would it be an insult to call an openly liberal person a liberal. What about a Nazi or a fascist?

Jihad means struggle - it would subjective to who you are talking to. To Al Queda it means holy war. To another Muslim it may mean inner struggle.

I am not a jihadist. It is a lie to call me one. I am a Buddhist. A jihadist equals terrorist to most people. I have taken vows to be non-violent.

If I were a jihadist it would be ok to call me one. I am not a jihadist. I am not a terrorist. I am not a Muslim. I am not on some 'mission'.

This is a political forum. I would rather discuss topics than continually have to defend myself from personal insults.

I thought that was what the moderators do. I was wrong.

If someone is really intent on insulting you, you should simply refute what they are saying when they bring it up, and you should refute it whenever they bring it up. However, you should also recognize that what they say does not matter if it is not true, and if they try to attack your positions by lying about what you are, then you should point out the ad hominem attack which represents the logical flaw in that kind of attack.

But move on; it's not that big of a deal.

It depends on the context in which the words are used, I would imagine...I haven't been here for two weeks, so I guess I am a little behind in a few things.
