Consistency in enforcing rules

Under the old system Mods could see who edited a post, but users could not. That did cut way down on the inaccurate and whining posts about Mods picking on people based on ideology. But it also allowed Mods to check one another in terms of who was editing what. I'm fine either way. I don't mind people seeing it was me who edited their post. If they think it was a politically based edit they are free to have another Mod check the edit (we can click on a link to the original post). For the record no Mod has ever been called out by the other Mods for ideological-based editing.

No, Ted. You should understand that you don't see half of it. This is the reason why we have mods with different ideologies. All you see is "Last edited by raytri". You don't see what was edited, or all the other edits by that moderator. You don't see the infractions doled out by any of the mods except for the ones given to yourself. You see someone is banned, but you don't see by who or for what reason. You can't judge fairness.

If you think a particular mod is wrong, PM your favorite mod to get an explanation. Mods can see exactly what was edited. We can see everything each other does. That's where the checks and balances comes in. You don't have to trust every mod; you only have to trust one.

I still say the mods should convert personal attacks, into sickening sweet lovey-dovey sayings. Effective AND entertaining!

This is my preference. But, bear in mind that there are a few whiney beyotches that can't handle humor of that sort. They pitch a whiney temper tantrum and act like toddlers.

People whine about words being deleted, but they really go nuts when we change their post. So we rarely do that. (I will note, however, that it is HIGHLY effective).

Why not have transparency in reputation points too?

I actually think we should make that change in regards to rep points. I already tell people when i'm repping them.

IMO all rep comments should be anonymous. The whole point of the reputation system, from what I understand, is to give new forum members an idea of who the most "respected" (or at least "listened to") people are on the forum. In this sense, I grudgingly accept that it does perhaps serve a useful function.

By exposing who is giving rep points, it will degenerate into a high school popularity contest. IMO it should be against the rules to even sign your comments. People should not be trading rep points like baseball cards.

well, I'll still take 'half' over no transparency at all.

As for trusting one mod.. teheheh, everyone has their price.

It's too bad, but some people do. Other people leave insults and sign another person's name to the comment (when we go in we can see who actually left the comment).
