Default Consistency in enforcing rules

This isn't a complaint. Just a suggestion.

I've noticed that all the mods seem to use different ways of replying to users who have violated the rules. By this I mean the appearance. Some use blue text, some black. Some use asterisks, some brackets, some nothing at all.

I suggest that all the mods use the exact same typeface/color/font template when disciplining users on here. The red text/asterisk combo seems to work well (it is hard to ignore). The example below uses "Arial narrow". I'd suggest using this color/typeface combo when responding to whine threads as well.

I'd also suggest not signing the edit. Example:

** Personal attack removed. This is your final warning ** - Sadistic Savior

I would remove the "- Sadistic Savior" part of the warning, because it makes the edit look personal. If it is left anonymous, it gives the appearance that the edit is being done by all the mods, not just one specific mod who might have a personal grudge.

IMO this would probably cut down on the amount of whine-posts you guys seem to get on here. Just a thought.

That is all.

Seems like every day a new thread complaining about the mods pops up...

Many of them are based on accusations of favoritism. Removing the names of the specific mod edits would undermine such accusations.

Actually, removing the name has to be done by the owner. We actually don't put our name on edits, it appears automatically when we do anything. On the old board only Mods could see the name, but on the new board everyone can. So that is not a quick fix. Well, the fix is quick, but the timing won't be.

I assumed that there is a mod control which would turn that off.

I'm sure that is the case. It's just that Mods can't shut it off. We can do a quite a bit, but some things are controlled at the Admin level. That's one of them. We got greatly increased powers with the upgrade, but apparently not that one.

Is there a user control that will turn off the mods?

I still say the mods should convert personal attacks, into sickening sweet lovey-dovey sayings. Effective AND entertaining!

I disagree. I appreciate the transperancy of knowing who is doing what.

It's part of the check&balance. Power corrupts and absolut vodkalahblahblah...
