New member issues

I'm new, and have a few issues:


1) Hello!

2) I have tried to upload an avitar, and it fails. I've tried both jpg and gif, both meet the file size and pixel limits, but both have failed on multiple days/attempts.

3) I can't get an image into my sig either - it's from image shack

4) Do all posts meed to be reviewed by a moderator indefinitely, or is there a standard probationary period until my posts go up immediately?

The FAQs don't really address these, thus this thread.

Other users have noted the same problem. I'm not sure if a solution has been found. Anyone care to chime in?

I'm not sure images are allowed in sigs.

Just the first several require moderation, to keep out the idiots and the spammers.

Based on how slow the pages are to load, I'm guessing it's just timing out. Need new servers perhaps?

One more question: How do I edit the comment under my avi? "Observer"isn't very flattering....and I don't see the option in th CP

You can't. It'll change titles as you post more. Lose your life and live on the boards and you'll move up rapidly to the ultimate - "Guru".

Instead of directly inserting with Link URL (gif, jpg, etc).. if that's what you're doing.. You might try saving the image to your desktop.
Then load it using the 'Browse' function.

This has worked for me when I could not load from link. Just saved the image, photoshop it, and shrink it to necessary size, and even rename it if necessary.
Always works after.

Currently, that's a title that reflects your number of posts. However, the admin has announced that you will soon be able to write your own title if you donate money. If not, your title will simply get more "flattering" as your number of posts increase, until you reach the "guru" title.
