it's an attempt to gain exemption from accountability due to drunkenness. sort of like driving a car and hitting a pedestrian, but then saying to the police officer that it wasn't their fault because they were drunk. they didn't mean any harm. my brother has used this excuse multiple times after engaging in drunken violence. he claims that the alcohol caused him to lose his rational judgment, and therefore he isn't responsible.

except that people often don't sober up after being influenced by religion. or it may take years at best.

What I find amusing about this entire situation, is that someone who admits they were intoxicated when they posted some inflammatory comments - that would seem to give ammunition to anyone who would disagree with them in the future.

Any member who has a difference of opinion with this intoxicated poster, can now dismiss any and all comments they make with a simple "You must be drunk again!" type comment.

Sample conversation --

Quote:
A: George Bush did this, that, and the other, and should be impeached!

B: What do you know? You're drunk again.

A: No I'm not!

B: Whatever...

There is such as thing as too much honesty.
Besides, inebriation is not an excuse for poor behavior.

If such an exception was created, how long do you think it would take before everyone who got an infraction wanted to have their own personal exception too?
Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me for asking. I must have been stoned when I started that thread.

Thanks anyway.

Let me answer your question by asking a question:

If you drive drunk, and run over and kill a little old lady, would you really expect an appeal if you are found guilty of manslaughter and sent to prison?

Bottom line - It may be the alcohol talking, but it is your own responsibility that matters.

I agree with you completely Mr Herkdriver.

It seems that being sober has not altered Mr Bush for the better though.
