And the owner doesn't deign to come down here and explain himself? In another political forum I go to the webmaster takes an active role in moderating the forum.

Thanks for your help anyways.

Why should they? What possibly do they owe you an explanation about? This is a privately owned forum. In other words, it's a pseudo-fiefdom.

Not saying they owe me anything, but it's common courtesy. Like I said, the webmaster at the other political forum I frequent actively administrates it and rules on complaints like this himself.

That said, I didn't start this thread to cause trouble, so on that note I take my leave.

I didn't respond to cause trouble with you. I just responded with facts. We get this question a LOT, and there's nothing we can do about it. The owner can literally do or say anything they want, and there's nothing (not even the moderators) can do about it.

Think of it this way...isn't it possible for someone to debate a point in a Disney movie? They can't say dam [sp] either.

Indeed, I was warned early and often.

I therefore have quite a fondness and even reverence for profanity

Yeah - I had an issue with that particular word being on the nanny filter as well. It seemed strange to me because there are a couple of other, harsher words that aren't on it. Horses for courses, I suppose.

Well, I'd think you'd be more justified in seeking common courtesy if you had to pay a monthly fee to participate here.

Well hell, what do we need a feedback section for? Apparently the decisions have been made.

edit: on a side note, I like how "hell" is allowed, but "(*)(*)(*)(*)" isn't. Ah, good fun.

Well, there's a difference I think may be going unnoticed. There are inquiries that we, as mods, can handle and workout. There are also matters that are beyond our control... this being one of them. So, there's still value in a feedback section, but this one is simply out of our hands until the administrator decides otherwise.
