Default Gay Marriage leads to Animal Marriage???

There are some who believe that by giving gays the rights to marriage, we’d be opening ourselves to future personal-rights movements such as the right to wed your pet. As crazy as this sounds, it’s true. What are your thoughts…

I heard they are parodying this and the likes on the Smoking Gun, which airs Monday/Tuesday, 10:30PM on Court TV.

Why shouldn't I be able to marry my chicken? Hey what I do behind closed doors is my business.

This is a completely stupid argument for denying gays the right to wed. The state cannot sanction a marriage where the consumation of said marriage would violate the law.

For that reason, marriage between closely related people can constitutionally be denied because all states have laws that make incest a crime (and the laws banning incest are constitutional because of the far greater likelihood of brain damaged offspring). Likewise, "marriages" between a person and an animal are legitimately denied because the consumation of those marriages would violate state laws against animal abuse.

This line of argument was first proposed by a Republican congressman (whose face I remember although I can't recall his name), and I remember how stupid he sounded when he made the argument. Anyone with a high school education should be able to see right through the argument, but unfortunately opponents of gay marriage will grab at any justification they can find.

Default Marridge

Don't the two people (or animals) have to want to marry? Unless you fell in love with and trained a parrot you'd fool no-one.

Good for you. When's the marriage?

Seriously, I don't see much rationale behind the "legalizing gay marriage leads to legalizing beastiality" argument. It hasn't led to that in the Netherlands or Scandinavia.

Default look at the foundation of the augments

i believe that the justification for homosexual marriage is they love each other so therefor they can't be discriminated ageist. sure there are laws and regulations but the underling augment for homosexual marriage is love. could someone name any other underling augments for homosexuality?

something that might come up is that they are born that way, but that has nothing to do with why a homosexual should be able to get married to another person of the same sex. plenty of people are born differently but they still get punished if they do something wrong. denying homosexual marriage could be discrimination because homosexuals as well as heterosexuals love there partner. but then love defines who can get married. one of the differences between the two types of marriage is in a heterosexual marriage the opposite genders compliment each other that can not be accomplished in a homosexual marriage. so in the augment for homosexual marriage is love, and thats a valid augment but the same augment can be used for bestiality.

there are plenty of times that animals have show true genuine love to humans... in more than one way

Hmm. Good point. Also, do I choose to love my chicken, or is it natural?
