The change means the Social Security Administration will no longer send notifications to alert employers when the gender marker on an employee’s W-2 forms doesn’t match Social Security records.

Not a big deal to most people but for a lot of trans people it is huge. On another thread here someone mentioned that Obama turned his back on the LGBT community but I certainly don't see that.

He's campaigning for reelection. Of course he's going to try to court our votes again.

I wouldn't get too excited - this is likely to change right back once the Republicans take control of the White House. Obama is looking more and more like a one-term president, but a lot can happen between now and next November.
