Default GOP Defeated on FMA

The vote for cloture to end debate and move to an up or down vote on the FMA has just ended and it came out like this

Pro- End debate, let's vote on the FMA now! 48

Con- No, let's not even vote on it now. 50

The GOP also failed to get the votes needed to head off a filibuster (60).

The item has been "set aside." In other words it's dead for at least a year

Default Did you hear John Stewart's joke about gay marraiges

I will butcher it, but hopefully the general point will get through

He said something like, "After suffering defeat on the issue of gay marraige, the Republicans vowed to carry on the fight until they won. Too bad Osama Bin Laden was not planning a gay marriage." :

Default ......

Yes, but it was way too close for comfort. Only Republicans would want to stop law-makers from debating an issue such as this before voting. They don't want enlightened decisions, they want comformity.
