????? He was talking about giving homosexual couples the tax breaks and governmental entitlements of marriage. Not how "so called christians treat homosexuals" I suspect Jesus wouldnt concern himself with such matters. "Render unto Ceasars, that which is Ceasars", "my kingdom is not of this world", "obey all authoities instituited among men" and all of that.

We have to disagree. And where religion/Bible is concerned... we could argue for years. If that church broke up, then I don't blame the pastor per se... it is just the way people are.

Those who go to church to come to know the character of Jesus Christ,...
    ...should become more like Him.

...probably found it offensive that the pastor would instead use the opportunity to promote his personal views on homosexuality.
As I said, even the most devout and sincere religious believers often disagree; I've seen it happen THOUSANDS of times in my own experiences and surely we know that occurs an unfathomable number of times within the history of mankind.

    So be it.

This argument won't end. How you/I interpret what we've been taught and read from the Bible... likely won't ever match up.

In general, I see Jesus Christ as possessing certain characteristics. Many speaking out the way(s) they do on homosexuals and homosexuality, don't strike me as being particularly emulative of Jesus Christ.

People are going to disagree on religion; which is exactly why we should not seek to create or enforce laws from the same. If we ever do, say goodbye to true freedoms and liberties.

Actually, I can respect that you see things that way; but only to the degree that your education, perceptions and experiences lead you to see things that way. To the degree that you think/believe you MUST coerce or control others concerning the same (being married legally), I (and millions of others) would strongly contend against the same..
Witholding tax breaks and governmental entitlements from homosexual couples doesnt "coerce or control" anybody.

Sooooo the preacher should probably speak to his congregation about that. Whats this nonsene about gay marriage?

Homosexual couples should have the same privileges and breaks in "marriage" as heterosexual couples.

The laws are bending that way as we speak.

I think that pastor did the proper thing; we'll disagree all day and beyond. (I'm sure.)

If so, you could simply copy and paste a few verses from the bible that in any way would support the pastors views on homosexual marriage, and I would be forced to admit my ignorance of the bible. But you cant do that.
