Frankly.. I just wanted to hear from some gay people on this matter. .. because I find it so puzzling..

My source is a kind person and a keen observer.. and he was flumoxxed as well.

The father of the groom is a self made millionaire many times over.. and I have known the groom for over 30 years... I think this was a deliberate injury to the father... and a matter of rivalry.

It makes me very sad....... because the father is a close friend and relative to me and I know his heart and his shortcomings.

It takes a state of mind that I don't even understand to say "Gosh, my dad's a jerk, I think I'll marry a lesbian to get back at him". And rivalry? I mean, I guess showing up your dad and proving you're better than him is something that might motivate some people, but again I can't even fathom what that has to do with marrying a lesbian.

The only way it begins to make a bit of sense is if he's gay and the dad is totally homophobic and domineering, and this is his way of getting back at him.... something along the lines of "There, dad, are you happy now? I married a woman!". Or maybe he's straight, but his dad was speaking out against his lesbian friend. But then you say his parents are perfectly liberal in these regards, so even that is not likely. The scenario just doesn't make sense.
True knowledge exists in being aware of what you don't know.
