A Step In The Right Direction?

This just out yesterday.

I, for one, am incredibly proud. I am disappointed that Kevin Rudd will not allow same sex marriage, or civil unions, but I believe there is a possiblity that will change in the future.

I'm tired of the US getting shown up like this. We need to get our act together and catch up to the rest of the industrialized world on gay rights.

Well, these changes only came about after we got rid of Howard, who was rather conservative. Once you get rid of the Republicans, and vote in a Democrat, you might have a chance.

I certainly hope so, anyway.

Er - did you read the OP before you stepped up on your soapbox? Our government is still not allowing marriage or civil unions for same sex couples.

They did change about 100 other laws with relation to same sex couples, but not those ones.

Which is a shame, I agree, but the changes for the better already made here since we got rid of that creep Howard give me a great deal of optimism for our future.

I'm very optimistic.

It does concern me that people are demanding Rudd explain his position on same sex marriage, because I think there is worry that he may have changed his opinion.
Someone from the Christian lobby was on television the other night saying that because Rudd had promised not to allow same sex marriage, he couldn't change his mind.

I sat there and thought 'You mean to say that in over a decade, Howard never changed his mind anything?'

No, don't you see, religious people should make laws. superdude thinks we should do away with all parliaments and democratic institutions and just replace them with a theocracy who decides what is moral and then forces it on everyone.
