It’s a fine mess, I must say! The Appeals Chamber of Romania after 60 years of the decision of the People’s Tribunal (which criminated Romanian authorities for being Nazi Germany’s ally in 1941) recognized that the war of Romania on the side of fascist Germany during WW2 was legitimate! The Bucharest Court has named the invasion of Romanian and German troops in Soviet Moldova in 1941 as “the war for liberation of Bessarabia and Bukovina”.
Indeed, bad deeds can spread! Following present Estonia, Romania has got a move on justifying fascism, too. If Tallinn tries to give Estonian policemen, served in Nazi troops during WW2, a name of “freedom fighters”, Bucharest Court of Appeal rehabilitates the Marshall Antonescu, who was convicted “for crimes against humanity and involvement in the extermination of Jews during the Second World War”. He was sentenced to death by Romanian National Court and 60 years ago the national criminal turned out to be a poor victim of Romanian jurisdiction! Well, maybe, the time has come when we should rehabilitate Hitler and his companions…
