Finally, some common sense, DC has the 5th highest crime of a major city, and finally law abiding citizens can protect themselves.

Let's knock these laws off one by one and move on to something real. Not just something that gets the plebes all excited. 100% gun restriction is just that.

While I agree that a near-total gun ban is probably unconstitutional, anyone else bothered by the fact that the ruling apparently overturns 70 years of precedent? Or is it only judicial activism when you don't like the ruling?

http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/dccrime.htm If you can see any meaningful correlation between that and the gun-control laws, you're a better man than I. Murders peaked in 1991 at 482, then dropped more or less steadily to 195 in 2005. The population of D.C. fell during that period, but only about 8 percent.

2nd Amendment: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
I read nothing in this statement that would prohibit an individual from owning any armament he chooses. Individuals in 1778 could, if wealthy enough, own the most advanced weaponry the world had to offer. Why should it be different now? Perhaps, because we might have to live with its consequences. |

What was funny was hearing an NBC news reporterette breathlessly exclaiming that this decision apparently means individuals can own guns! Gasp! Garsh, next week, she'll discover that the Equal Protection Clause means folks have to be treated equally! Who knows, maybe liberals will discover the whole constitution!!!!
Nahhhhhhhh
