Default The downside to owning guns

For what the movers want to charge to move my gunsafe, it'll actually be more cost effective to purchase a new (larger ) model and have it shipped to the new house.

BTW, there are a lot of interesting pieces in this thread.

I own an arsenal. Chuck was right when he said, "Gun ownership is the ultimate freedom." Long live Charles Heston.

Default Do you own any weapons?

This thread is not about debating if it's right or wrong to own guns but instead to find out how many of us that do and the reasons why.

Also tell us if you intend to or may change this. Like for instance "-I am going to buy myself a hunting rifle when I can get access to some place to hunt." or "-I own a pistol for sport shooting but am thinking about purchasing a self defense weapon as well".

I myself does not own any guns (air gun pistols does not count), but I am open to the possibility to get myself a hunting rifle if I ever move to a more rural area and gets friendly to the local hunting team.
Of course I own a weapon. It's a slide-action shotgun (.12 guage), and I own it for my protection. Had to use the slide action to scare off an intruder in the wee hours one morning about 5 years ago.

Default Go hard and deep.

No, I DO NOT OWN A GUN. I own over 20 of them, and shoot them almost every weekend. I belong to a MILITIA that meets regularly, trains, and BLOWS UP TONS OF CHIT on the wastelands of Montana. Every shot is fired with malice of forethought. Get some.

I have a deer rifle that I keep at my parents' house, since I haven't gone deer hunting in 20 years. It's an old British .303 jungle carbine -- shortened barrel with a flash guard on the end.

My older brother's rifle is a Springfield 30-06, probably of WW II vintage as well.

At this point I don't know whether they're weapons or antiques!

They also have a smattering of shotguns and .22s that we shot growing up; my brothers and I will inherit those some day, I guess.

Why?

1- Owning a gun is not a "tradition" in my family.

2- Shooting at a target is as exciting to me as watching cars go around and around in a circle for hours.

3- I do not own a pickup truck so I would have no where to put the gun rack.

4- I am smart enough to realize that more people get shot by their own guns than who are successful stopping burglaries.

5- I do not enjoy shooting "critters" (i.e. squirrels, raccoons, stray cats) and skinn'n them.
My, my you like to stereotype don't you?
How do you feel about ni.....sorry....black people? Hmmmm?
Probably the same a Conservatives, right?
