No, I have not. I fought in Vietnam - a very different place - a very different war. A company commander in Afghanistan might not call in artillery fire, tactical air support, or a B-52 bomb strike, on any given day. That's what I did. All limited wars have their own rules; and, given the rules of engagement, we have no business putting our military at risk in Afghanistan. That said, it does not change what I said about officers carrying weapons. An officer is in charge by virtue of his knowledge and ability that are the atributes of leadership; and if he cannot rely on that alone, he is not worth the bullet to blow him to hell.

The only times I carry is when I go into the woods behind the house and when I take my morning winter outings.

I live in a very wooded area. The map above is bear country and I live in it.

Yeah bears usually don't bother people but when they do it is best to be armed lest you be dead.

    I carry either a Sig P250 40 SW SC or a Kahr CM9.
No one ever knows when or if they will need to protect themselves.
It is not a planned event.

Unfortunately there is no carry - concealed or open - in this state. Even so, I'm looking at a Walther PPQ to plink with and a Ruger LCP to carry in the states that do acknowledge my CCW permit. I have a few other handguns around the house, but am getting the bug to get another.
