I find it hypocritical that folks rail against guns but support the wholesale slaughter of unborn children.
Murder based upon philosophical arguments is the violation of the Right of Life of a "person" and the US Supreme Court, after an extensive review of statutory law, common law and social norms going back throughout recorded history was unable to find any foundation for "personhood" prior to birth. This is documented in the Roe v Wade decision that so many fail to actually read. Lacking "personhood" murder cannot occur as the Right to Life, as well as all other inalienable Rights, only exist for the person.
When social conservatives of the Republican Party state they want to return to "traditional American values" this is the "traditional American value" that they support.

Thinks guns are bad. This is purely emotional and has nothing to do with the pluses and minuses of gun ownership, whether crime would go up or down, etc.

It doesn't matter to him when the evidence from the UK or Australia indicate that allowing only law breakers to have guns is a bad idea.

He doesn't care if a gun prevents a rape or a murder, guns are bad.

^Guns are fine to defend yourself in your own home. But carrying them around in public and randomly shooting people is ridiculous.

And this one is also worthy of noting:

While there are unquestionably individuals that use guns for nefarious purposes there is also law enforcement and private citizens using firearms to protect themselves and others.
They are good ones, but just remember all deaths must have occured between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2012.

A guy "carrying a gun around in public" can save alot of lives. If they have a legal permit, then they were deemed to be perfectly capable of carrying a firearm. Again the only people you have to worry about are 'bad' people, and they dont follow the laws anyway! There really is no argument here.

Read the title of the thread and repeat it for me, right here. I want to be convinced you have bothered to take note of the subject.

Sir it would seem to me that someone has misinformed you. I have to assume based on earlier comments about Americans that you are not one. If I'm wrong about that I apologize. We do not go around randomly shooting people. The people here that kill innocents are criminals. We have a large country with porous borders. With vast expanse of rural areas where there is no law enforcement to defend us. We have third world countrys to our south that survive off dealing black market goods to us. We have attempted for decades to eliminate drugs yet they get worse every year. If guns are made illegal that will just add to there list of products. China, Russia, and Iran sell arms to central and south america. Not to mention the 280 million guns already here. Mexico a country with some of the strictest gun laws in the world is war zone. We need our guns as a deterrent to prevent even more violence. Our country is not Europe we are different. The same threats and violence we live with on a daily basis make us the strongest country in the world. That same mindset also got involved in two world wars which the results would have been very different without us. Not to mention a cold war that we could have just retreated to our country and left europe to face the soviets alone. Are we perfect no do innocent suffer sometimes regrettable yes. But this is a imperfect world.
