"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." 10th amendment, 1791. Unless a federal amendment says the second amendment is repealed [lets hope for Christ's sake its not] the states/federal government have to allow you to obtain a gun. You see, this is why the constitution isn't a work of poetry- it wasn't meant to be interpreted, the ideals in it are fairly timeless and only recquire minor common sense edits as time goes on.

Everyone knows exactly what it says. They all understand it. But those that would take them away use rhetoric and sub diversion to move thought away from decision.

To quote an LEO buddy of mine.

"Still, in my experience as a Police Officer and gun owner for several decades, I must suggest that emotions drive the "gun control" argument, even when there are absolutely no facts to support its effectiveness.

The world is comprised of sheep, sheepdogs and wolves.

Yes, the analogy may be simplistic, but if it isn't true -- call me on it. I dare ya.

I'm a sheepdog. A sheepdog who acts in the interest of others: Both the shepherd and the sheep.

Sheep are nice.

Sheep are afraid of wolves, because wolves have fangs. Wolves kill and eat sheep.

Sheep are afraid of sheepdogs, because sheepdogs have fangs and bark a lot to control the flock.

Sheep will do NOTHING to protect themselves, as they are not equipped to do so. Without the sheepdog or shepherd, the sheep can only hope to be in the middle of the flock -- so when the wolf comes, the sheep on the perimeter will be eaten first.

Sheep can only congregate to the center of the flock and hope it is NOT their turn.

Sometimes, when a sheep is killed, sheep will bleat, "If we can just get the wolves to turn in their fangs, maybe we won't die!"

Wolves; however, NEVER turn in their fangs.

Unfortunately, that is a FACT sheep ALWAYS fail to accept.

In such denial, sheep WILL TRY SOMETHING -- which usually includes enacting rules, which require the sheepdogs, whom the sheep also fear -- to turn in their fangs, or implore the shepherd to chain the sheepdog.

Sheep bleat happily, because NOW, they see results from their collective efforts. NOW, the sheepdog is defanged or chained. Thus, sheep FEEL and BELIEVE they can roam more freely about the pasture.

They post signs for a "FANG FREE ZONE."

Yet, the wolf awaits, licking his fangs...

The sheep are wrong...again.

Virginia Tech was a GUN FREE ZONE. Cho Seung Hui did not heed the sign.

When there are wolves, we need sheepdogs. So why, WHY -- when so many sheep are killed -- do sheep continue to bleat -- that somehow, the solution is to regulate the fangs of the sheepdogs?

Sheep NEVER let FACTS change the way they FEEL."

Several years ago my team was deployed to Fallujah. Shortly after the second push, we recieved an order from the theater commander. He said that we were to disarm everyone. Just to attempt to make ourselves a little bit safer. Most would say "Yeah thats a good idea" But guess what? It was not a good idea.

Iraqi law at the time said that every military aged male was authorized one AK style weapon, with two full mags, for protection of property and family.

We took those weapons away, days after enforcing that order, we started to see a huge increase in SVBIEDs (google it).

Come to find out that because daddy was no longer armed, bad guys could walk right in his house, yoke up momma and kids, then tell daddy "drive this car into that convoy and push this button or momma dies right here."

Several months after the push was completed and people were flowing back into the city we decided to lift the ban on weapons inside Fallujah. Within hours we started finding dead bad guys in the alleys, and shortly there after the number of SVBIEDs dropped off to pre push numbers. I wonder why that is? Can you maybe tell me?
