A protest took place at a range I was at several years ago. We just kept on shooting, business as usual. After about an hour, the guy running the protest called the range to find out when we were going to come out to argue with them. It just burned 'em up that they didn't get a rise from us.

Yup, that is the best way to deal with em. They want an argument. If they have no one to argue with. They have no voice. Good call on your part.

Default Well CD... What happened at the range?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Anyone try to splatter you with analogous blood of the innocent? Did someone get get their communist @$$ beat?

Or did the impotent comrades sit outside and pound sand doing their best to support flaccid arguments through painting irrational cliches on poster board?<<< My guess...

As general rule, it's a REALLY bad idea to splatter the combat ready with paint of any kind. The only people I've seen them try this with are women and old men in business suits.

Well they did try it with Ann Coulter that one time, but it turns out she has a lot of fans who aren't petite somewhat boney hotties, who took HUGE exception and detained them, with shall we say... prejudice. I don't think it's happened since.

The idiots were doing their chants and what not, and only had a small path to walk on to get to the door (they are smarter than to block the door). But they seemed to move for me. It had just started to rain when I got there, and by the time I left there were only a few there. Guess they they realized that shat gets soft in the rain. And its not like anyone can hear them through the walls of an indoor range with 70 or so people firing.

Fricking idiots.

I still say it would have been a lot more fun to shoot at them.....or at least shoot in their general direction!

In a weird bit of serendipity, my wife expressed an interest in learning to shoot last week. We were visiting the grandparents anyway, so I talked to my dad and returned home with three guns:

Remington Model 572 .22-caliber rifle
Remington Model 580 .22-caliber with 4x scope
Remington Model 870 20-gauge shotgun

Nothing fancy, but more gun than has been in my house in 15 years.

Next up: securing the guns, finding a local range where my wife can get basic instruction in target shooting and gun safety (she hates it when I try to teach her stuff), zeroing the weapons and finding time to go shooting.

Very nice. There are ranges all over the place that will help teach. You may also check out a hunter's safety course. Even if she does not plan on hunting, there is some good information she can take away.

Here is a site where you can find ranges near by.

My first gun was a .22 rifle, bolt action.

Until my Dad saw me aiming at birds and not empty soda cans, quickly took it away.

Good starter weapon.

Wear ear protection.
