It is common knowledge that cigarettes kill people and that marijuana does not. End of story.

Its hard to tell. In terms of an individual cigarrette roll vs an individual marijuana roll, I would say the marijuana is worse. But cigarette smokers tend to smoke several cigarettes per day, whereas Marijuana the effect is long lasting and constant smoking is not needed.

Its the constant smoking that is the problem, and I think cigarette smokers are putting their health (lungs, heart, etc..) more in danger beceause they tend to smoke a lot more.

Prove it, show me some facts. Cause In that other thread there are references from studies that show they are worse.

But theres also the factor that people who tend to do marijuana are younger, and younger people can better resist health problems.

So even if someone did tons of weed in high school, the effects might not come until they are older. As people get older though and have families, they tend to get off the weed. Whereas smoking is just viewed as acceptable at any age.

I am no scientist but there are a huge number of factors to look at.

At the end of the day, they are both very bad for your health. The question is, should one be illegal and one not illegal. If marijuana is really that bad for your health, its not hard for insurance companies to just start making those folks who do marijuana pay more for the potential health problems they will have. The free market will fix it if it was legal.

Really? Cause I see a good number of young kids that get sick more often than I do.

Yup, and in clinical trials they have been looked at.

Yes both are bad for your health, I will agree with that. Now can you point me to a reputable study showing that MJ is less harmful than cigarettes? If not please step out of the way.

I can't point to a study off hand. I might try looking for one since you insist.

But that doesn't mean there isn't an good arguement for legalizing marijuana.

A study of 450 individuals found that people who smoke marijuana frequently but do not smoke tobacco have more health problems and miss more days of work than nonsmokers8. Many of the extra sick days among the marijuana smokers in the study were for respiratory illnesses.

Effects on the Lungs
Smoking marijuana, even infrequently, can cause burning and stinging of the mouth and throat, and cause heavy coughing. Scientists have found that regular marijuana smokers can experience the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers do, including:

Daily cough and phlegm production
More frequent acute chest illnesses
Increased risk of lung infections
Obstructed airways

Why is it that some people want to make pot legal but cigarettes illegal?
