http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Furlong I would like to point out that the record he broke was set by a man that was using a modified M2 .50 cal HB machine gun.

If I'm honest, and bare in mind I did say my knowledge is limited on this one, when I said control the ammo I meant don't allow rounds (to the general public) that are amour piercing for example.
And I don't want to get into a debate about it right now (it's 2 am here and I've got work at 8am), maybe tomorrow, but I don't believe people should have the right to own a gun even if they're a liability. I think some things should be earned. People have to earn their drivers license, they should have to earn the right to have a gun. IMHO. This is the problem, cos on the other hand I do think people have the right to protect themselves. You see my problem?

I would not worry too much about that comment. No one in here is an expert, and I think that is proven by the last few posts.

but to get back on topic, i was born in romania 2 years before our revolution. i still remember the tanks rolling down the streets of the capital. we had no right to guns. we had no way to defend ourselves against the government troops. its times like those that you wish you had the right to guns. the founding fathers knew what they were talking about when they made it the second amendment. |

True, licensing isn't about stopping criminals from getting them it's about stopping incompetents get them. And don't get me wrong, I don't think everyone needs to be a navy seal to own one lol, more just basic safety and ability to shoot in a relatively straight line.
