Yup, that was pretty impressive. You can read a little more detailed account of it here.

I would like to point out that the record he broke was set by a man that was using a modified M2 .50 cal HB machine gun. I wonder how many shots it would have taken the Gunny had he had an actual rifle that was designed to be used in that capacity.

Notice how the farther down the list you go, the smaller their balls get.

If I'm honest, and bare in mind I did say my knowledge is limited on this one, when I said control the ammo I meant don't allow rounds (to the general public) that are amour piercing for example.

And I don't want to get into a debate about it right now (it's 2 am here and I've got work at 8am), maybe tomorrow, but I don't believe people should have the right to own a gun even if they're a liability. I think some things should be earned. People have to earn their drivers license, they should have to earn the right to have a gun. IMHO.

This is the problem, cos on the other hand I do think people have the right to protect themselves. You see my problem?

The right to bear arms didn't stop with muskets, as scumbags like Hitlery would have you believe. The only arms, in my opinion, that should not be owned are WMDs. This is because WMDs have no self-defensive value. They are purely offense in nature, and non-targeting. The true, inalienable right is really the right of self-defense. The right to bear arms means anything that can be used for self defense, and in an age of predator drones firing hellfire missiles at people, the self defense bar is set very high.

Don't be condescending. How many other people have you met in here who freely admit they don't know everything about something? I'm sure it isn't many, if any.

I would not worry too much about that comment. No one in here is an expert, and I think that is proven by the last few posts.

i didnt mean it in a condescending way. i dont know too much about it either.

but to get back on topic, i was born in romania 2 years before our revolution. i still remember the tanks rolling down the streets of the capital. we had no right to guns. we had no way to defend ourselves against the government troops. its times like those that you wish you had the right to guns. the founding fathers knew what they were talking about when they made it the second amendment.

The problem is the bad guys will drive without a license. Leaving the rest (liability's or not) to be run over.

No problem, the net can be tricky when it comes to conveying tone.

True, licensing isn't about stopping criminals from getting them it's about stopping incompetents get them. And don't get me wrong, I don't think everyone needs to be a navy seal to own one lol, more just basic safety and ability to shoot in a relatively straight line.
