Oh yeah....And instead of focusing on guns all the time, maybe we should focus on figuring out why there are so many idiots out there shooting innocent people (and some idiots in gang related instances)....And then lets figure out how to stop this.

There are plenty of guns in other nations and they aren't offing each other in record numbers. The guns aren't the problem. In this particular instance its definitely the fault of the people.
You can't really stop how humans are though.

Granted, I think it plausible to present situations where crime becomes harder to manifest itself. But...

Oh I agree with you. I fully support strict gun laws to ensure that the criminals are not getting them. I also dont see any need to have fully automatic weapons, rocket launchers, or stuff like that.

I'm a gun owner and I love to go shooting. Im also well trained, have no criminal record and know exactly what im doing when handling a gun. In other words my guns are for self defense and for sport (I dont hunt, but like going to shooting ranges and what not).

We need to be MUCH more aware and cautious of who we are giving guns to. Honestly our current laws call for that though, they just aren't followed worth a crap.

Whoa. I never said anything about strict gun laws. I'm not in favor of strict gun laws. I'm not in favor of gun restriction. You can't restrict my right to self-defense.

No. We need to hit criminals when they commit crimes.

We did.

Since the enforcement of the sullivan law in the early 90's, crime has gone way down.

Some states have followed suit with these new tactics and done just as well if not better, while still being fairly open with their gun laws.
New York is the safest big city in the country.

Yes, it will. It stops "law abiding citizens" who don't have a criminal record from legally purchasing huge weapons caches and selling them to places where they're harder, or impossible to get, legally.

You are complacent in gun trafficking. Yes. You are. Why do you help criminals?

I do not want to make it easier for them. I want to target them, while allowing the honest man his full liberty.
My suggestions do target them while allowing an honest man his liberty. Nobody's taking your guns away.

Quote:
Yet another partial falsity put out by the anti gun lobby.

Yes a person is more likely to have a negligent discharge than they are to fire on a bad guy. What you should know is that an honest person is more likely to use that gun to defend themselves than accidentally fire it hurting a loved one.
Prove it. With facts.

Quote:
Only one percent of defense situations lead to the good guy actually firing his weapon. 6% of the time the good guy is hurt, and 93% of the time neither is hurt and the situation is deescalated.
Source.

I do agree that people should seek training before owning. But once again, you can not require that for a right. I do believe that offering tax breaks on purchases for those that receive training would help out a lot.
No. People can and should be forced.

Quote:
And if anyone wants training, I am willing to teach them for free. They only need to come to me, and buy their own rounds.
Superduper

It should be noted, that despite making my point, I've been harrangued by PM to come back to this thread.

Here's the bottom line: I don't want to take people's guns away, not because it's a right: it's not. Nowhere is the right of an individual to own a gun guaranteed by the constitution.

But, I understand people want them, and responsible people should be allowed to have them.

What I want to do is allow cackolacky to have it's laws, without undermining the safety of the millions who live in my city.

Stop interstate traficking by putting a reasonable limit on the number of guns one can by at a time.

License guns, so that owners can be tracked, and if the weapon turns up in a crime, the licensee can be found, and prevented from selling another weapon.

Note, again, that this is a solution that prevents any ban on guns from being necessary.

But, the op here will insist that his rights, (that he doesn't actually have) will be infringed by these regulations.

You don't have the right to own a gun.

Do what you want in Charlotte; just quit catering your laws to gun traffickers.

Otherwise you're complacent in gun crimes.

And, moreover, you're an ideologue who's gun-lust prevents you from reaching solutions.

Now, I await your response. Be sure not to let facts get in the way of your gun-humping.
