SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. -- A Florida man with no medical training has invented a machine that he believes may lead to a cure for cancer.
John Kanzius, who turns 63 on March 1, is a former broadcasting executive from Pennsylvania who wondered if his background in physics and radio could come in handy in treating the disease from which he suffers himself.

Basically what happens is the patient is injected with "nanoparticals" which attach themselves to cancerous cells. Once this stage has been completed the patient then goes through a "microwave" which heats up and causes the cancer cells with the "nanoparticals" attached to explode. Since the specific heat of water is so low (and your blood is 70% water) the rest of your blood and cells will be unaffected, and you will no longer have the disease.
On the surface, this seems to be the miracle we have all been waiting for, but look a little farther into the future and you may see a problem. This machine or one like it could be the answer for many medical problems. But it could also cause a very big one. Since we (humans) are at the top of food chain, we have no means of population control other than the amount of food we have (which is seemingly infinite). These viruses, and diseases are what controls our population. Without them our population would grow at an alarming rate, creating huge problems for our world.
I don't know if this population thing is true, and I don't really have an opinion on it, it was just a thought. But at first glance this machine seems like a good thing, and very promising.
Opinions welcome......
