Default Medicare is the most likely to reject a claim

BigGovt

Just a little more evidence of the way govt fails at providing health care services. However, I am sure that this will be ignored or spun to show how evil the insurance companies are and how We The People actually can't survive without Big Brother there to protect us.

Deny This: Guess Who Has the Highest Medical Claim Rejection Rate?

Medicare has the most claims because medicare has the most sick people. Generally when people get old, they get sick. Medicare has all the old people.

Do the math.

...the math was already done. Medicare turns down 6.85 % of it's claims.

Are you saying that medicare should not have the right to reject a claim? Do you even realize how much abuse and fraud there is in medicare? I don't really understand your point.

Do the math.
But, the fact still remains that they deny a higher percentage of claims than private, for profit companies.

Indeed they do. However, this is at a very macro level. We could assume that the private insurance companies might deny a higher percentage if they had the same patients as medicare.

What I'm saying is, comparing Medicare to Aetna isn't the same as comparing Aetna to whatever the "public option" would be. Medicare is for the old, medicaid for the poor, the public option would be the rest - the college students, the lower-middle class, and potentially some of the average middle class, etc. Many of the same demographics that the private insurers mostly cater to.

While it's still not a straight across comparison, it's the closest we can get.

The argument could be made that since medicare is processing nearly 3x the claims as the privates, they are 3x more responsible for the so called crisis....but wait... they are run by government, that would be absurd...wouldn't it?

No, your wrong! There are many, many people that are under 50 that have Medicare due to disabilities.
There are many kids on Medicare too.

Medicare is geared to waste money. I know, I was my Dad's fulltime care giver from 2002 till his passing in 2008. He fell and broke both his replacement hips and couldn't walk or stand on his own. There was 2 choices Nursing home or take care of him myself. I chose to do it myself. When he fell he lost most of the feeling below the waist so he couldn't tell when he had to go to the bathroom, he couldn't feel it. The urination was the worst. A paraplegic friend suggested we use external catheters (condom type) and a drainage bag, I stared using them but the catheters were $2.00 each (1 a day) and the drainage bags were $5.00 each. I talked to my Dad's doctor about it because it had a bad effect on his skin and cleaning him 6 or 7 times a day was killing us both. The sent us to urologist. He wouldn't prescribe the catheters unless my Dad tried medication first. The first one was FloMax ($175), it did nothing as the meds weren't meant for his problem. He couldn't feel when he needed to go. So when that didn't work he prescribed Detrol LA ($330). When that didn't work the Doctor and I had to have a heart to heart discussion regarding his dental plan before he finally decided to prescribe the catheters my Dad really needed. So I am very skeptical that Obamacare can do much better than Medicare. Sorry, it's my personal experience.
