Despite the outrage from many individuals, health reform may be right around the corner. The Senate Finance Committee passed their reform proposals by a count of 14-9, and it now heads to the Senate floor for further delegations. After numerous months of heated debates from both republicans and democrats, many believe this is the best foundation for the future of America's health care. The Senate Finance Committees’ bill has a price tag of $829 billion dollars over ten years. The amount itself is enough to scare many Politian’s and citizens away, but you have to weigh all options and suggestions.
I'll provide a quick overview of the bill, but I'd suggest you read further since this is supposed to be a transparent government. Consumer protection is highlighted in the bill, by providing limits to deductibles and co pays. It also has federal subsidies to offset the cost for low income families, and insurances companies can no longer deny any American from coverage. Employers wouldn't be required to offer insurance to employees, but penalties would be inquired if an employee purchased insurance with subsidies from the government. There would be penalties for individuals who don't acquire insurance, although the details are not known at this moment. A sigh of relief came from the bill by not allowing government to sell insurance to compete with private companies. The House is still currently working on their own version of the reform, and bipartisanship seems to still plague U.S. politics. This has transformed from a government of the people, to a government of differentiating parties. Whether you disagree with the current reform or not, just pointing a finger isn't going to solve the crumbling economy, war, or even healthcare. Yes to much government control is a problem, and we can't allow that to happen. The logical thing to do when battling something you disagree with, is to provide viable solutions and recommendations. Disagreeing with proposals just because a person's political lines are different from yours isn't a justifiable reason. If individuals aren't capable of accepting changes, this country will become stagnate.

This bill is the worst of all possible worlds. If, hypothetically speaking, I worked for an insurance company that had a "Health Care Reform" website & it listed what health insurance companies hoped to achieve from health insurance reform (mandatory coverage for all, gov't pays for poor people, a big tax on cadillac plans to incent people to buy cheapo plans) the current bill has all that. And not much else.
I'm disgusted with my government at this point. They have dropped the ball on their "mandate". The bill being bandied about right now is an insurance company's wet dream. It's worse than if health care reform had never been proposed. And this is from someone who really, truly understands the industry... who, as I said, hypothetically speaking, works for an insurance company, so I know what we... er, they, want. This is not health care reform. Just passing a bill called "Health Care Reform" doesn't mean anything if it really means a massive benefit to the insurance companies. If you aren't for "Health Care Reform no matter what!!! I don't really care what's in the bill as long as it's called Health Care Reform!!!" you should be against this bill. It's everything insurance companies want. Gift-wrapped. With a bow on top.

Dem's strategy is to get a basic bill passed first then amend it since there's not possible to get one through with a public option or with provisions that will cut costs at the expense of corporations.
