Reagan was a monster in disguise. He almost single-handedly created a new brand of terrorist warfare.

"terrorist warfare" has existed by definition since the French Revolution and in reality since the founding of governments. Reagan was the last great-near great president to serve.

Best:
1) Theodore Roosevelt - Major reason why the Progressive movement was able to truly make a difference in government before stalling out or leading to Isolationism, yet still maintained his bare-teeth big stick policies and a heavy hand. 2) Franklin Delano Roosevelt - Was able to maintain the Soviet Union on the table as a potential friend to the Allies during World War II, even after the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Agreement and the multiple failed attempts at positive diplomacy with Stalin. Also, the one who actual had the stones to officially recognized the USSR as the legitimate power in Russia. He was, despite what many may say, a capable president who had a lot on his plate to deal with. 3) William McKinley - Was able to continue an age of American prosperity, while maintaining the expansionist possessions of the United States. 4) John Adams - Despite his Federalist leanings, the Alien and Sedition Acts, and the lameness of his regime, he kept us out of a potentially devastating war with France. 5) Thomas Jefferson - Reasons already covered... Worst: 1) William Taft- A failure of a Progressive, the Payne-Aldrich Tariff, and the fact that he split the Republican ticket and led to the reign of Woodrow Wilson. 2) Woodrow Wilson- The Espionage and Sedition Acts... One of the most dictatorial presidents who managed to both maintain and then promptly lose his status as a moral leader. 3)Abraham Lincoln- Perhaps the most dictatorial president in American history. He had no post-war plan for readmitting the States into the Union, and is highly overrated. 4) Ulysses S. Grant- Perhaps the most corrupt President in American history... The Belknap scandal, the whiskey ring, etc. Horribly corrupt. 5) Jimmy Carter- Just... terrible. |
