Was "Mistaken Identity" the real reason for the attack on the Liberty intelligence gathering ship? I don't buy the official US & Israel line on this.

What was the REAL reason for it?

"Israel attacked the USS Liberty using UNMARKED AIRCRAFT. This is the single fact which proves Israel knew exactly who they were attacking. Israel's story is that they thought USS Liberty was an Egyptian ship and therefore a legitimate target of war. Were that true, there would be no reason to attack a supposedly Egyptian ship with unmarked aircraft. The only possible reason to use unmarked aircraft to attack the ship is that Israel knew it was an American ship and intended to sink it, then to blame the attack on Egypt.

Moorer, who as top legal council to the official investigation is in a position to know, agrees that Israel intended to sink the USS Liberty and blame Egypt for it, thus dragging the United States into a war on Israel's behalf. This seems to be a common trick of Israel. "

Did you watch the documentary? The US & Israel were both in on the attack plan. The Johnson administration was corrupt to the bone. He makes W look like Cincinattus

I don't know. I'd say they're both pretty corrupt. I guess LBJ was probably worse though. I didn't watch that particular documentary, but I did see another documentary that came to the same conclusion, and it indeed appears that it was a false flag attack.

There was a war in the region.
The ship was deemed to be in the wrong place and an enemy vessel.
Israel attacked it.
Afterwards apologies etc.

Pretty much the same thing that occured to the USS Panay.


They where both mistakes. They happen in the real world.....

I am torn on this incident.

The reason I am torn is because I love conspiracy theories (I use that term not as a demeaning phrase) and trying to prove them true.

Reasons why it probably was a deliberate attack:

Unmarked Israeli planes as someone said before.

The idea that this communications ship (I think that's what it was) was an Egyptian ship is pretty far-fetched and Israeli pilots should have known better.

There was a war going on and Israel was looking to United States' support

This happened during the Iran Iraq war as well with the USS Stark, where the Iraqis attacked a United States ship although we were already supporting them in the war. No Iranian war ships looked like the USS Stark so it would have been unlikely in that situation as well, for there to be an accidental attack out of nowhere.

and of course
LBJ was president.


However, since it is a theory I do have my doubts

Accidents do happen.

There has been no official confirmation or leak from anyone after such a long period of time.


But I will still try to hold on to my conspiritorial argument as long as I am not disproved.
