I liked Reagan. He was a righteous dude, politically speaking. I don't like "everything" he did, but then again, you don't get to be President and still have everyone like everything you do...
But I mean, overall, that guy was "not bad".
He was a real charming guy "in person", I met him "many" times, went to school with his kids, all that kinda stuff... he was, like, our commencement speaker, I think that was when he'd just got elected as governor of California...
Yeah, I wouldn't mind a guy like Reagan in office again. There aren't any though - at least not on the Republican side - or at least, none that I can "see". Giuliani isn't even "anywhere close" to what Reagan was, Giuliani is a cop and he looks at the world in a whole different way.
I mean, if I had to characterize Reagan, I'd say he did the role of the "statesman" exceedingly well. And his wife, was perfect in her role too, in that regard. Ronnie and Nancy. Yep.
But yeah, I mean, "reality" is, that you get the power structure, right? You don't just get "the guy", you get everything that goes along with him too. And that part, has changed
extensively from when Reagan was in office. I mean, there's a whole new ball game in town, on that part. You can trace it right from Newt through Tom Delay and into Hastert and Mitch McConnell, and then there's this whole separate track on the Mehlman side and so on - so I mean, all that tells me, is that they're not gonna give us a guy like Reagan anytime soon. Right?
