I have generally aways admired King, but he was not a saint. First of all, he was widely known for his marital infidelity. After winning the Nobel Peace Prize, he said "I've been to the mountaintop", but it looks like he spent some time in the "valley" too.
Also, he was a plaigiarist. From wiki: Quote:

While these actions represent character defects, and the betrayal of his wife was particularly bad, I evaluate historical figures on their whole life, and in that regard, MLK comes out not bad. Not bad at all.

Yeah, MLK was a pretty good dude, all things considered.
Did you know, that Hoover considered him to be the "greatest threat to national security", bigger even than the Communists? Yeah - plagiarism and infidelity - that's kinda the decision "we" have to make with these public figures, right? 'Cause I mean, "all" of 'em, have some kinda hypocrisy going on, some kinda "difference" between what they're telling us in public, and how they conduct their private lives. But, I mean, when I look at MLK's "public message", there's really not too much bad stuff in there. You know, it's mostly, like, peaceful non-violent resistance and "stand up for your rights" kinda thing - a lot like Ghandi or something. So, I mean, I kinda look at that stuff, and I go, "okay, the guy's a human being", right? And I mean, we're "all" constrained by our biology, right? But I gotta put that into perspective - 'cause here's a guy who dedicated his whole entire life to the pursuit of truth and justice, and you know, in that context, I'm totally willing to forgive the guy for a few little personal "foibles" or whatever - right? That's kinda how I try to build "context" around some of this stuff.... |

You already know you are a racist, you don't have to hear it from me. Cats like you hate to see any black man given any type of credit or honor for anything in this country. Does your hate really run that deep? Peace.
