    More books have been written about Honest Abe than any other historical figure except for Jesus Christ. To this day, a handful of new books about him are published every month. Just amazing!

    I'm not sure how Malcolm X could have know Lincolns thoughts with certainty, but, Lincoln did seem to send mixed messages regarding personal view on slavery.

    One thing is for sure, he was a skilled (evolving) politician...

    "I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so." ~ Lincoln ~ 21 August 1858

    ~~~
    "Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just God, can not long retain it." ~ Lincoln ~ 6 April 1859
    ~~~

    "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that." ~ Lincoln ~ 22 August 1862

    In the past pro slavery types quoted Jesus and the New Testament out of context to support their abhorrent practices.

    The real biblical view on the slave "trade" were expounded here:
