Default should the allies have bombed the camps??

man. this is still a hot button issue. should the allies have bombed the concentration camps during the war????
last Jan Bush visited the Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. and looked at Ariel photos of the Auschwitz camp and commented "We should have bombed it,"
source

I took exception here. should we have killed the hundreds of thousands of innocent jewish victims ???? from a moral stand point no. but the survivors of these camps agree. yes they should have been bombed. after all they were doomed to die anyway. the flip side is if we do it then we wear that label forever.
many argue we didn't have the resources for it anyway. top priority was the destruction of German industry. I agree. before 44 we were probably out of range anyway.
if you were in the 8th air force and your CO gave you the order to bomb these camps would you obey???? knowing you could go to prison for disobeying a direct order. and knowing you have your finger on a switch that release's a 5,000 lb bomb load on these camps. fortunately they were not put in this position.
many argue we just bomb the rails leading to the camps. would it have stopped the killings???
so what do you think??? should we have bombed these camps or not????

He lectures widely and is head of the Los Angeles-based Berenbaum Group, a consuting company that specializes in the conceptual design of museums and the development of historical films, specifically those relating to the Jewish experience and histories of persecution and genocide. He is the main author of and advisor for Britannica's extensive coverage of the Holocaust and is the author of many books, including The World Must Know: The History of the Holocaust as Told in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and The Bombing of Auschwitz: Should the Allies Have Attempted It?
