I’d like to tell you the story of my friend
I’d like to tell you the story of my friend, Dmitry Neyelov, whom I’ve known ever since he was a school-boy. The matter is that after finishing school he fell among evil companions and got a dose for shopbreak. Then he went at large and hopscotched about our native town of Nizhniy Novgorod looking for a job.
One day he found the bean in the cake (as he thought at that moment). Through the Center of social rehabilitation for former prisoners Dmitry has met representatives of so-called NGO “Return to Freedom”, who helped him to seek employment and begin dignified life.
And who ever have thought that soon my school-fellow has turned out to be in jail again. It proved to be that the public organization “Return to Freedom”, which is a nijegorodsky experience of the British non-government organization NACRO, sponsored by British Council, was settling most former prisoners in various local organizations, known by their extremist nature. It is clear that all people, who had a criminal record, are successfully able to put their “past experience” into practice there. It is known that British Council has even worked out a special project for such category of our citizens, called “Changing public opinion for more effective social rehabilitation of former prisoners”. I should say, it's a strange way of struggle against commitment of possible crimes and terrorist acts, isn’t it?..
