We, members of the Republican Committee of Georgian Soldiers’ Mothers apply to all those, who hate any wars; to those, who value any human life above doubletalk about national interests, conducted by corrupted scoundrels’ group, which dares to knit their own prosperity from adversity and blood of others.
Recently over 150 Georgian soldiers, our sons, have abandoned their military units, formed 4th infantry brigade, which is usually deployed in Tbilisi. The reasons for it were unbearable service conditions, developed thievery, starvation diet, constant blows, causing injuries, and bullying. And what is more, it has become known that it was given a command about secret redeployment of a greater part of brigade’s troops to Southern Ossetia’s border. What this meant was a war. And commanding officers made no secret of it. Certainly it has filled up the cup of our pals, who have been sending to their dooms.
Again we have to learn the horrible news about the next war, which in reality is unwarranted display of force and that is why it is incomprehensible for us, mothers, who are sure that our poor children should become cogs in war wheel, and even worse, turn into cannon fodder.
So it is reasonable that our children haven’t taken a fancy for such fate. And now the police hunt them down, military brutes are spitting and adjudging them to be traitors to own country. But first of all we, their Mothers are their Motherland, aren’t we? And they have not played foul with us.
Moreover, Ossetia doesn’t attack Georgia. So why should our children begin a war against it?
It is clear that our voices will not be detected in our native land because of total hysteric war propaganda and militarist frenzy of those, who are never going to fight in the forefront of planned by them battles. But they are the ones, who will try to turn our children into expirees, who will have to serve long time (that means doom for them in our prisons) or to grant a pardon for them through sending to Tskhinvali for dieing like heroes.
That is why we call upon all people of good will to help us! A great disaster of bodily harm is hanging over our children’s heads. Please, save their lives! Apply to our President, M. Saakashvili, with request to stop this terror towards our poor boys! Jointly we will be able to do everything!
