God! Now in increasing frequency we, Europeans, become witnesses of outrage and major violence towards national minorities, lived in our old and kind Europe. In Finland we’ve got gross violation of human rights of the Lapps, in Baltic States – persistent violation of main rights of Russian minorities; in France – systematic public wrongs of the Romany.
The last occurrence of such crude violation of Romany rights was evidenced in present France not long ago. One night a Romany family was thrown out of a certain shelter for poor. Pitiable homeless people found themselves planted on the street and then fell into the hands of local neo-Nazis, who beat them to a pulp. Just imagine! Such order of things prevails in Western Europe, which is famous for its old democratic traditions! Well, after it there is no surprise that Estonian neo-fascists dare to make no disguise of their true admiration over past activities of SS veterans on Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian territory… This is the thin edge of the wedge! |

Skip the crap, Jean-Jacques, europe has been a center of anti-semitism for hundreds of years, if not thousands.

Oh, I suppose that makes it OK? I think the point he was trying to make is that even today, in 2007, crap like that still happens. You'd think we were educated and civil enough to handle differences in other ways, but unfortunately people still get attacked in the streets.
