Default contrasting views on the death penalty

the death penalty in california is WAY screwed up. the death penalty is given liberally to pets (specifically dogs) that maybe hurt someone harassing them in self defense. however, humans can literally get away with murder. murderers simply get life in prison, and prisons are not bad at all: outdoor time, TV, 3 meals a day, computer and internet privileges...etc.

Death penalty is preferable to life long prison terms because it's less expensive to kill someone than it is to feed him for the rest of his life on the cost of the community!

Well, from a moralic point of view killing people or putting them into a cage for the rest of their lives is equally bad, I personally would choose death over life long imprisonment. Therefore it comes down to economics!

The death penlty is very difficult to assign to one crime. It should be more bassed on the sircumstances of the crime than the crime itself, Example a person kills a man vs mother kills her child. In some cases it might be possible to allow the criminal to choose his punishment, between life imprisonment and death. I think we would be supprised how many would prefer death to life in a cell.

Therefore as your views are representative of many( with ref to your cage comment), would life in a cage from a retribution standpoint "beat" the death penalty to death?

As awful as many of those crimes are, some worse than others, I do not believe in 'an eye for an eye' so to speak. I say let them rot in jail.

It's a waste of our money and labor to establish and run prisons for these criminals, when we could just kill them and not have to deal with it. Which is why I believe prisons should be labour camps. Prisoners should be forced to work off thier debt to society as much as they possibly can, to pay for thier own existence, shelter and food, and to pay for the damage they caused when they broke the law.

The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil. We see before us a huge community of producers the members of which are unceasingly striving to deprive each other of the fruits of their collective labour...I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
