Secondly, TJO has always been a blow hard and when you press him on issues he comes unglued. Its par for the course with him.
Tell you what... you come down with a disease like PD, then you tell me whether or not you want religiofascists to keep science from finding a cure. Then we'll talk.

I would hope I would have the courage not to compromise principles of decency and morality to save my own ass if that ever does happen to me.

The end does not justify the means.

I have seen many people suffering from PD, and it is awful to see them. I have one elderly customer who suffers severely from PD. He can barely hand me the money for his meal - he simply holds his hand out and I take what change I need. He has trouble holding the tray and cups so I have to help him sit down because he would eithor drop the tray or burn himself otherwise.
I don't mind doing this - he doesn't seem upset or bad tempered, in fact, he seems to have a sense of humour, in that he sees his 'shaking' as being funny. I think it's wonderful that he can find the good in a bad situation.
I can't imagine what his home life would be like, not being able to grasp things, having trouble feeding himself, etc.

I really hope that one day, there is a cure found for PD - but I do not think embryonic stem cells are the answer.
I am not against ESCR because I am pro life - I am pro choice - but for me, it just doesn't feel right. I really can't explain it, but I find ESCR disturbing. I think there are plenty of other things out there we should be trying first, but nothing is being given a chance because scientists are enamoured with these embyonic stem cells - which are yet to cure anyone of a disease or illness.

But Religion isn't what's stopping progress. I just showed you using neutral sources that the adult stem cells are just as good. I said it before, I'll say it again, its not an issue anymore.

And again, nobody answers the question....

...do you think it's FINE to just DESTROY the leftover blastocysts from in vitro fertilization when the miracles that are yet to be discovered from the precious stem cells within could be used to save lives TODAY?

If you can't -- or won't -- answer THAT question, then your argument is specious.

This stuff you talk about, turning adult stem cells into pluripotential cells, that's all well and good. That's something that MIGHT be used to save lives... a couple decades from now.

They can use embryonic stem cells TODAY.

Decency and morality? To use blastocysts to improve the human condition instead of destroying them in a medical incinerator?

You think it's decent and moral to burn leftover blastocysts as medical waste instead of using them for research?

How twisted is THAT?

So, you prefer that they thaw out these leftover blastocysts and burn them as medical waste instead of using them to potentially cure disease.

That's what you're saying.

I don't like the idea of them being destroyed, but I dislike the idea of using them for stem cells even more.
Like I said, I can't explain why I am against it when I am so pro choice, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

But no one has been cured of any disease or illness using ESC. There is no actual proof that ESC can actually cure PD, or anything else. It seems to me that scientists are bragging about how these ESC can save lives and work miracles, but we are yet to see one.

...because federal funding to study them has been denied. So the haters say, "See! They haven't CURED anyone with them!" Because they can't, because federal funding is denied.
