I'm a 15 year old smoker. I know (*)(*)(*)(*) well that if I continue to smoke it will most likely be the death of me. I got over it, you should too.

Its true that (or at least people advertise to me that tobacco advertisment is evil) tobacco companies seem to have all kinds of scemes for destroying the masses, but their just trying to make more money like every other company. If you don't like how one tobacco company tries to manipulate you then don't buy their cigarettes. Buy someone elses.

We can't tell the tobacco companies how to run their business. If they want to advertise overseas, let them. Its the American way. If it really bothers you then why not try to help spread awareness of the dangers of tobacco in other countries? People in third world countries are going to smoke whether you like it or not. Making it illegal for our country to get a piece of the sweet, third world tobacco action won't help out people over there. Spreading the word of the dangers of tobacco is your best bet.

That was a lot of typing, I need a stoge.

Default No, It's Very Un-American

I don't advocate punishing smokers, first of all. Tobacco companies made documents labeled "top secret" and "s-h-r-e-d" discussing how to make their products more addictive. People in third world countries, moreover, usually don't know that smoking will kill them, and now tobacco companies are killing off people in those countries as well (as if they don't have enough problems). We have to use national health insurance to help every American stop smoking and we have to forbid overseas marketing of tobacco products by American companies. Those companies will then go out of business without any punishment of smokers.

You'd never guess my solution... nationalize it. No point in trying to kill people then because your just going paying it straight back out into the health service.

Default National Health Insurance

I support using national health insurance to help every smoker quit.

And how are you getting your nicotine smuggled to you, considering how most places I know of say you have to be at least 18 in order to have the legal right to make the idiotic choice to set your lungs on fire.

The government has no obligation to protect us from ourselves. The government's obligation, if there is such a thing, is to protect our freedom to live our lives as we choose.

Saving a few dollars on my income taxes? That has nothing to do with what I said! But I'll tell you this: I'm downright tired of hearing "raise the cigarette tax" every time the government wants more money. Maybe there ought to be a tax on non-smokers.

Look, you're trying to be a do-gooder. But quit trying to save everybody from themselves! Most smokers don't want to quit!

People who start smoking are trying to prove that they're real men (or real women). Let them prove that they are.

The real solution is free cigarettes for everyone on public assistance. Naturally, they'll all get cancer and die and so they'll get off the dole sooner.
