Cigarettes contain addicting ingredients just like other drugs, yet they aren't outlawed like they are. WHY? They are even considered a linking drug to other more dangerous drugs. I just don't see how something like smoking can be accepted in a society that is very against the use of other drugs. Don't try to tell me that they aren't as dangerous. My own grandfather died because he smoked, and yet, this is acceptable to society.

Just because you don't believe smoking is acceptable does not mean it should be banned. Yes, smoking has the potential to kill but so do so many other things. Virtually everything can kill somebody, its simply a matter of HOW dangerous it is. Fast food can lead to high cholesterol and clog up a blood stream, and alcohol can lead to drunk driving deaths. A book, even, can catch on fire and burn a house down. Smokers know the dangers when they take a pack (just look at the health warnings on the packs). They're perfectly aware and its no secret that cigarettes cause cancer. I have heard zero research linking cigarettes to harder drugs, so I would love to see what you came up with in your assertion that cigs are a "linking drug." Cigarettes are very dangerous, but you can't just ban them because they can lead to death in some people. If an adult wants to smoke that's his choice and hopefully he's acknowledged the health consequences. We're not going to attempt to protect him from himself.
