About the most ludicrous of concepts I've read. If this is what the next generation views as a news source we as a nation are in deep trouble. It's about as ludicrous as putting this thread in "Latest World News" instead of "Humor and Satire."
Intellectually lazy seems to be a hallmark these days.

I don't know what the next generation thinks but I do not turn to comedy shows for news. I turn to it for laughs. What is sad is that even though these shows are for comedy, they seem to hit the nail on the head while the standard news networks drool and masturbate over the latest hollywood scandal. If anything is to blame it is not the generation but the news networks which choose to either ignore, convolute, or minimize the real issues. They all try to 'present' 'fair and balanced' views but their idea of 'fair and balanced' is two hacks that parrot talking points back and forth without really addressing the issue. I would gladly give up a fair and balanced report if it meant that I would here an actual intelligent analysis of an issue that went deeper than the crap that is broadcast on TV nowadays. If you have a deep understanding of an issue it would be impossible not be biased about it especially if the issue is important. I do not expect reporters to have no opinion like they do nowadays because it ever has an opinion. I do however expect them to have the nuts to show their opinions and back them up with some kind of substance. What happened to the days when an obviously biased reporter would challenge an issue and would actually get a response? Those days are long gone, and if comedy news channels have in fact become more popular, maybe it's not because the new generation is becoming stupid. Maybe, it is because they've been told by the previous generation what real TV reporting used to be like and just want a reporter that can challenge what he sees as wrong and not be so worried about being unbiased. The sad thing is that John Stewart is the only person on TV who does that.
