Top Conundrums of 2007
Why are those Muslim guys suing the airline that made them disembark a plane after passengers were made uneasy after their suspicious behavior? And why did they have a lawyer before they left the airport? Doesn’t everyone (except the ACLU) know by now this was a set-up? All I can say is that if they hadn’t been asked to leave the plane, I would have demanded that I be let off it. Hopefully, the judge will dismiss the suit and the airline and its employees will be vindicated. If not, I’ll be driving to FL from now on. Why are we attempting to legislate into bankruptcy one of the largest employers of unskilled workers in the country? If you make under $10 hour, you are not going to receive executive level benefits! Those of us who receive any type of benefit, especially paid vacation time, should thank our lucky stars. Now, stop complaining and get back to work. Why should the government pay for prescription drugs for seniors? Or anyone for that matter? Did I miss that in the Constitution? “Thou shall receive, in copious amounts, any substance, either natural or manmade, that will ensure one’s health, one’s ideal weight, one’s sanity, one’s elevated mood, one’s happiness and one’s erection." I missed that in there somewhere – but of course it’s written in fancy type, so who knows what it says. (Except for you, GG.) Why should a company be forced by public opinion to award a prize to a baby and it’s family when the family is ineligible because of the parents’ immigration status? Come on, I know it’s a baby, but rules are rules. The parents never should have considered themselves eligible. Depending on their knowledge of the English language, they might not have known anything about the contest. Most likely, it was some well-meaning low-level hospital candy striper who doesn’t have the sense God gave a flea. Maybe he/she will figure it out when his/her job is given to an illegal alien later this year. Why do retailers in the US continue to hire people who speak no English? And I mean not a single word. How many times when you were Christmas shopping did you encounter this? At one store, when I mentioned this to the cashier, he replied “Yeah, can you f****** believe it." Well, after that, the silent Hispanic woman was downright refreshing. But, I won’t be shopping there anymore. Why, Cindy Sheehan? Need I say more? Most insane people fade into the sunset after their 15 minutes are up. Maybe that will change now that she has PO’d the Dem’s. They don’t have much of a sense of humor and her antics at their big press conference last week have probably ensured her imminent retirement. Maybe she’ll be denied reentry at Customs after her next trip to Cuba or Venezuela. Why can’t a shop owner accept foreign currency? It’s their shop. Who is harmed by this? What I can’t figure out is why the ACLU hasn’t flown on down to Texas to make sure the shop owner is honoring the current exchange rate, as these rates can change frequently. Also, what fee is the shop owner charging? I remember paying heavily to exchange my Czech oople-dooples (or whatever they were called) for dollars. If those Mexicans want to pay $45 for pizza, let ‘em. (Maybe they’ve never heard of Domino’s.) Will Hilary run for President? What is she waiting for? After suffering through years of angst, I can see now that if she were to win her party’s nomination, she would ensure a Dem loss in 2008. Now I’m actually nervous that they figured this out and won’t support her run. I guess we now know her biggest fear – a well-spoken, young, attractive black man. Wait, isn’t that who she has claimed to be representing all along – the disenfranchised? As I’ve said before, I am really looking forward to the impending implosion of the D-Party. Pop some corn and pull up a chair. But put the kids to bed, because it won’t be pretty. Who will win the war of words – Rosie or Donald? And why am I still watching? Why do I find “My Name is Earl" entertaining? It’s to the point where I can’t wait for Thursday night. I am a college graduate, well-traveled, well-read and well-informed. I don’t get it. And neither do the people I actually admit this to. Is it because it is so far from my real life experiences, that it is pure, mindless entertainment? Or is it just because I love it when Joy calls people “dummy"? Oh, I can’t stand it – I’m even chuckling now. Well, now you know the things that are keeping me up at night. I know they aren’t earth shattering issues, but if you look deep enough, you’ll see that small issues like this occur everyday. And some of them have lasting consequences. -- GOPMOM Taken from http://www.gopmom.com |
