Here's an idea similar to the Wal-Mart model: Trademark buzz-words/buzz-phrases that are being frequently used in current affairs media. That way, once a journalist/anchor/well-known blogger uses your trademark and makes money off of it, you can demand a royalty. If the judge dismisses your case on a charge of "triviality" sue the judge for "severe emotional distress".
